Time and time again, our clients encounter the same unexpected struggle in the search for wedding fashion excellence. Finding the bridal gown isn't usually hard, but the perfect bridesmaid dresses? So tough!

Let's break this down. There are several options to consider...

The most traditional style is to have all the maids wear the same gown. This classic look is lovely and timeless.

But sometimes, there are just too many body types to all look great in the same gown. This issue is central to the challenge. No bride wants her maids to feel uncomfortable or look anythng less than beautiful. (And if she does, well... we hope we never meet her!)

Another option to help accommodate different body types... same fabric, different style gowns. These beautiful dresses by Donna Morgan, photographed by Lucy Cuneo, are a great example.

For the bride seeking a little bit of color variety, there are many designer collections that provide the option to choose the same gown in different shades. We've seen these lovely Jenny Yoo gowns work wonderfully in multiple shades of blue (seen here photographed by Callie Davis for Nancy Ray Photography on the left, and Perry Vaile on the right).

I love seeing couples toss the old rules aside from time to time. Occasionally we see maids in ivory gowns and it's just stunning. Another choice to love... dramatic black (yep - this is that same Jenny Yoo gown shown above!)

Pattern play can be awfully fun, and so can texture (think beading, lace, etc.)

See where I'm going with this? Friends, these days there are so many options that it's harder than you think to make the wrong choice. Don't worry about selecting a dress your friends will wear again (seriously - nobody does that, and nobody expects that!) and focus on finding frocks that you'll love standing next to when you marry your special someone. Toss aside the pressure and have a little fun with this selection process!
