Rose Hill Plantation Wedding featured in The Carolinas Magazine
Each time a new editorial feature is released from one of our couple's wedding days, we feel a little bit like kids in a candy shop. There's always a squeal of joy in the studio and we love to gather around and look at print magazines together and re-live the experience of a wedding day.
Kasey and Zach were married at Rose Hill Plantation in Nashville, NC in October 2017 and it was such a special privilege to be a part of their day. For more than a year, Kasey served as our primary graphic designer and an invaluable member of our extended team. (She's also a killer fine art photographer... go check out her site here!) She created beautiful artwork for so many of our clients, and when Zach proposed and she asked us to design and produce her wedding - there was no way on God's green earth that we were going to say no to the opportunity to create the celebration that she and Zach wanted. It was such a privilege to do something that special for her!
Styling details with our dear photographer friend, Callie Davis of Nancy Ray Photography, was a highlight of the wedding day, as it almost always is. But this time, we worked in some details that were especially meaningful because Kasey created all of her own stationery and hand lettered some really beautiful pieces!
Ever the savvy right-brained creative type, Kasey elected to stick with a soft, neutral palette and play up touches of beautiful contrast between black and white. I loved how these bouquets looked against those ethereal gowns with those delicate little dark centered anemones creating some interesting focal points.
The moment we visited Rose Hill Plantation for the first time, I knew that the front of this house needed to be our ceremony backdrop. After just a few minutes of talking Kasey through it, she was quickly convinced and we were all totally on the same page. Of course, we had a rain backup plan, but we hoped, prayed, and crossed all our fingers and toes wishing for beautiful weather so that this grand aisle vision could come to life. That white exterior with it's crisp black shutters and that beautiful front door quite literally could not have been more perfect as an aesthetic background for this ceremony. It was striking in it's simplicity, and I feel like it allowed the focus to truly be on Kasey, Zach, and the sacred ceremony as it unfolded. On the wedding day, the sun was shining and the sky looked almost too perfect to be true. Thank you, Lord!
The wind gave us some fits with these cards, but we conquered (as we always find a way to do!) and this escort card display turned out beautifully. Kasey hand lettered each guest's name herself and that made these so personal.
There were so many moments that day where each of us took a moment to pause and soak it all up. I remember the most epic sunset, and how calm and excited Kasey was as she and I waited with her dad for the cue to head down the aisle. When two people love each other this deeply, it really lays the groundwork for a day that feels effortlessly smooth. Kasey and Zach, we know you have a incredible lifetime ahead together and that your marriage is truly blessed. What a joy to know you both and have been even a small part of this time in your lives.
