Destination Wedding in New York City | Jared & Jordy

This vibrant, colorful, joyful celebration in Brooklyn, New York took place in 2014, but we haven't yet blogged it! Since we've updated our website and revived our blog earlier this year, it's time to play catch up and share some past weddings.  I may be biased since the groom is my younger brother, but this particular wedding is one of my all-time favorites. We always encourage our clients to ignore the trends and stay true to their own preferences, and Jared and Jordy did that better than most! Every single detail was unique, purposeful, and delightfully indicative of Jared and Jordy's personalities. Last year, The Knot New York magazine featured their wedding in its Fall/Winter issue and you can read about all the fun details here! I'll let these photos speak for themselves to tell the story of this incredibly special weekend. Huge thanks to Jordy's cousin, Jenna Armstrong of Jenna Marie Photography, for sharing these images.

Shout-out to the Box House Hotel in Brooklyn. We staged all of our wedding week production from this delightful spot and loved the spacious loft-style rooms. The next time we're working in Brooklyn, we'll be sure to return!

Jordy created programs on glassine envelopes filled with confetti for guests to toss at the conclusion of the ceremony!

Designing flowers in NYC is a dream because anything and everything is readily available and there is no shortage of incredible blooms at our disposal. We ventured out to the flower market at the crack of dawn on Thursday morning and packed our sprinter van full of flowers. One of my favorite finds: the little mini fresh chili peppers that I used in the guys' boutonnieres. So fun!

Cute moment alert... adorable ice cream truck photos below! While Jenna was taking photos of the wedding party and families outside, an ice cream truck drove up. I swear it wasn't planned, but it felt almost on cue! Jared and Jordy enjoyed ice cream cones covered and smothered in colorful sprinkles before the wedding ceremony. Cool factor rating: 10 out of 10!

After the ceremony, we ushered the guests upstairs to a smaller loft area and the outdoor rooftop (overlooking the Manhattan skyline!) for cocktail hour while our team transformed the space below. The draping and ceremony chairs were removed and the dinner tables (pre-set behind the drapery!) were spaced out around the room around the dance floor. We originally planned to sweep up all the confetti during this time, but made a gametime decision to leave it on the floor because the colorful "mess" was so festive and fitting!

Every single dinner table was different. In addition to renting some linens from La Tavola, we also worked with Jared and Jordy to develop a design plan involving custom textile pieces. My brother used his training in theatrical costume design and broke out the sewing machine to create numerous table linens, runners and napkins. I loved the result!

Each guest received a hot sauce bottle with their name joyfully hand-lettered by Jordy. Instead of using table numbers, every dinner table included an illustration of a hot sauce bottle and guests simply matched their bottle with their table's hot sauce to find their seats!

The whole day was magical. Truly. Our team worked hard, but we had a blast and I was such a proud big sister. Jordy and Jared - we love you to the moon and back!
