All About the Greens

Over the last several years, an interesting little trend has emerged and it seems to have some staying power. For many years it was hard to think about wedding decor without imagining flowers, but now it's not uncommon to place the spotlight on the greenery. Yep - foliage has been having a big moment. But if you think about it, doesn't foliage deserve more than a moment? It's pretty timeless stuff!

This is one trend I can really get behind and I'm not usually a fan of trends. I love to work with all different types of greenery, mostly because I love the interesting textures and movement that they help me achieve when I'm designing. Most blooms have defined shapes which limit the possibilities for placement and/or their reach. Greenery - whether we're talking about delicate leaves, or large branches of foliage - really provides a beautiful set of options.

This isn't a look that one would intuitively place in a formal, ornate ballroom... but it is stunning for weddings with an intentional organic aesthetic. The best part? Greenery costs a fraction of the cost of fresh flowers, so it's a budget-friendly design element for sure. Sometimes I don't even buy it from our growers and wholesalers because I can forage the foliage we need. And truth be told, foraging is one of my favorite little not-so-secret secrets!

Happy Friday!
