Gearing Up for the Holidays

I hope y’all are having an amazing holiday season! It’s no secret that this is by far by favorite time of year. I just can’t get enough of it!

The entire holiday season (to me) starts in November, right after Halloween. Don’t get me wrong – October is the kickoff of my favorite time of year and series of holidays (Halloween included) but there’s something so special about Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Spending time with family, decorating the house for Christmas, eating delicious seasonal food… I just love it all so much! The best things about this time of year, for me, are shopping and eating foods that only come around this time of year. No lie, squash casserole is my favorite food on the planet and when else do I have an excuse to make it than before a Christmas party?

I also love shopping this time of year. It’s funny, I’m fully aware that everything is overly hustle-bustle and a lot of people hate shopping during the holidays because of all the chaos. For whatever reason though, shopping in November and December is my JAM!  I love it and it’s one of my favorite things about gearing up for the holidays.

Holiday traditions are also an important factor of gearing up for the holidays that deserves another mention!

I have a very large family and because of that it’s hard to see many of them outside of this time of year. It’s nice to come together with them, play Christmas games, and hang out in Christmas sweaters.

Also, have I ever mentioned that I collect glorious, tacky Christmas sweaters? My goal is to eventually have one to wear every day in December.

I absolutely can’t write a post about gearing up for the holidays without mentioning listening to Christmas music! What spreads holiday cheer and Christmas spirit better than listening (and singing loudly along to) Christmas songs. Also, can I just mention the importance of watching Christmas movies?! Nothing gets me ready for Christmas like eating Christmas cookies and watching a classic Christmas movie.

What are you favorite ways to gear up for the holidays? I hope you’re having a blast doing it!

Till next time,

Brittany
