Becky & Nick's Spring Garden Wedding at the Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh

Becky and Nick’s wedding at the historic Merrimon-Wynne house in Raleigh, North Carolina was such a special one for our team. After working together for nearly two years, it felt so exciting when the day finally arrived and we could implement all of the beautiful plans we’d been working on for so long! Enjoy a peek at their celebration below, courtesy of our talented friends at Ally & Bobby Photography, and be sure to catch even more here on Style Me Pretty .

April 13th brought with it a lovely temperature for a springtime wedding day, but it also brought buckets of rain at the start of the day. The fact that this photography is so beautiful on a dreary day is a testament to two important things: (1) A solid plan made in advance for dealing with rain - capitalizing on the beauty of the side porch of the main house and a clear top tent installed on the lawn, and (2) the magic of natural light paired with film photography.

Despite the heavy rains during our setup, this day was perfect!

For almost two years, Becky dreamed of us being able to use smilax vine throughout the reception design, as well as on the grand staircase in the main house. One small hiccup: southern smilax vine is out of season and virtually impossible to obtain between the beginning of April and early July every year! As such, we prepared Becky and Nick for alternate design elements.

We are beyond grateful to our friends at East Texas Smilax who sent us one of their very last batches of greenery just in the nick of time so that we could surprise our clients with something they thought wouldn’t be possible.

The paper details featured original watercolor floral illustration by our design and production manager, Allison, and were such a breath of fresh air at the start of the spring season.

Before the hustle and bustle of guest arrivals, Becky and Nick shared a private first look together, and then finished all of their portrait photography with the wedding party and family.

This wedding day was bursting with beautiful details! Those peachy coral garden roses in the bouquets were as perfect as could be. And can we talk about Becky’s exquisite dress, and veil? Très chic!

In order to preserve the original plan to have an outdoor garden ceremony, we elected to put up a tent on the large green lawn adjacent to the house. Each guest received a raffia fan and an illustrated paper cone of hydrangea petals and rose petals to toss at the newlyweds when they walked up the aisle together.

Rain, schmain! By the time the ceremony began, the sun had come out and there was no evidence of the earlier downpour because all of the ceremony elements were safely arranged under the clear tent, dry, and in tact!

This exit below was something we all dreamed about for months! The perfect joyful moment, outdoors with fresh flowers galore, set against the background of the historic architecture of the house, and with petals floating through the air. Isn’t this just the happiest photograph?! Almost too perfect to be real life, but it was as real as it gets!

Inside the carriage house, a seated dinner reception awaited all of the guests… and yes, there was smilax vine as well!

Becky has an extensive collection of antique milk glass vases and it was so special to be able to incorporate all of them (about 100 in total!) on the dinner tables.

Becky and Nick, we love you two and are so grateful to have been a part of this incredible celebration.
