Maddie Gets Married: Nate's First Visit to The Merrimon-Wynne House

The Merrimon-Wynne House | Ally & Bobby Photography

On Sunday, Nate and I attended the Winter 2020 Merrimon-Wynne House Bridal Showcase. Nate had yet to see the venue, and I thought this would be an extra festive way to introduce him to our future ceremony and reception site!

We were greeted with a Merrimon-Wynne Bride swag bag, along with a glass of bubbly to kick off the festivities! From there, we perused the Main House, sampled some passed hors d’oeuvres and checked out the Groomsmen's Suite upstairs. We also bumped into the lovely Mena Garcia Beauty and snapped a quick pic to send back to the team (we are so excited she’ll be joining us at the Artful Wedding Production Workshop this March, as our Hair & Makeup Sponsor!).

We then made our way outside to the Lawn and Carriage House, where we were greeted by the Weddings for Real Podcast, a podcast for wedding industry professionals hosted by A Southern Soirée's Megan Gillikin, and interviewed for our take on a couple planning their wedding, sourcing vendors, etc. This was a fun surprise, not only for the interview experience, but to finally meet Megan! If you haven't listened to the episode already, Megan interviewed Becca on Percentage Based Pricing and Bringing on a Business Partner. It also happens to be the episode I listened to before interviewing with RRE and joining the team!

The showcase was well-attended, beautifully executed, and just so much fun. Nate was a huge fan of the venue and particularly loved the tastings. I think our catering menu tasting will hands-down be his favorite part of the planning process. And while these events are intended to showcase not only the venue but highlighted vendors, it was a great time for us to experience the venue in high gear and see the space after having initial design and creative conversations, as we have the wonderful team at RRE to source vendors needed outside of the services we produce in-house.

Nate, my mom, and I will be headed back to Winston on Thursday, February 6, for our Design Meeting to go through Becca’s design plan, along with some more logistical elements from Betsy, and we can’t wait to share!
